C60: Vibration Analysis of Compressor Motor

    X

    Installation

PlantConnect SFactory deployed for Vibration Analysis of a Compressor Motor.

Customer An engineering industry manufacturing mechanical fluid systems and process equipment for various applications
    Use Cases
    • Real-time condition monitoring of critical rotating equipment such as motors
    • Early detection of faults and alerts via continuous monitoring of vibration patterns
    • Enabling condition-based maintenance (CBM) for improved asset management
    Challenges
    • Lack of continuous visibility into machine health during operations
    • Dependence on periodic inspections leading to delayed identification of issues
    • Risk of operating equipment under degraded conditions without timely awareness
    Sensor and Key Parameters
A vibration sensor with magnetic mounting was mounted on motor casing. It provided vibration data on Modbus RTU via RS485. Key Parameters (Captured / Computed)
    • Vibration Velocity (mm/s)
    • RMS Value of Vibration (mm/s)
    • Frequency Spectrum (Hz)
    • Dominant Frequency Component (Hz)
Observations Based on RMS velocity and dominant frequency, system identified Bearing Clearance or Structural Fault. Upon physical inspection, an issue was found in the mounting of compressor.
